The Val Papadins
The Val Papadins formed in 2005 around an old upright piano, a pawn shop hollow body guitar, a moody bass, and a child's drum kit in a small living room in a sleepy corner of Northern California...The band's first session together yielded two songs and they began to meet regularly - ruthlessly cranking out new songs at every practice with frightening speed, and... all the songs sounded good, so they kept going.
Mr. Val Papadin happened to hear them playing one night and eagerly invited them to use the back of his sign shop as their rehearsal space - a place where each practice from then on was started by one of Mr. Papadin's large Russian meals, a litany of toasts, brandy ice-creams and finally followed by hours of writing and rehearsal during which Mr. Papadin could be seen dancing (and often crying) to the band's music. The band would come to name themselves after him.
