I'm sad to announce that I'll be moving in late October and won't be able to maintain the Cool Waves site anymore. After starting the site in early 2004, I couldn't be more proud that over 85 artists have joined and the caliber of talent is simply amazing. While other genres and scenes come and go it's reassuring to know that our little Bay Area community of shoegazers, post-rockers & dreampoppers isn't so little and will stick around whether journalists or tastemakers deem it worthy or not. There's always room for improvement and I wish I could've developed the site more in the time I had. On that note, if anyone knows a little about web design and is inclined to take the site over please . It would be wonderful to keep this thing going. Otherwise I'll probably leave it up for reference but it won't get updated.

Help a touring band in need of a show! Airiel is an amazing shoegaze band from Chicago. Their previously booked July 14th show got cancelled and it would be a shame if they weren't able to play in SF. All attempts to book a new show have been exhausted. If there is anyone out there who can help by adding them to an existing bill or know of a venue that has July 14th available, let me know and i'll pass it on. Thanks!

Another amazing festival was held at House of Shields last weekend. It was loads of fun and featured awesome sets from six Cool Waves artists. Thanks to all who came out and supported the area's vital local music scene. Video from the shows will be up soon!

There's another great new resource site for Bay Area bands. The weekly blog/resource/mag NASCENT spotlights Bay Area bands from all genres. The current issue features Cool Wavers Oceans of Fire. Each article includes an MP3, info about recent releases, and the place/date of their next local show. Bands who'd like to notify NASCENT of upcoming shows or releases (but no mailing lists please) can email info@nascentmag.com.
